The Science of Genesis 1: There was no ice age.

Genesis 1:1-2 ASV
(1)  In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
(2)  And the earth was waste and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep: and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

The Bible does not support the misguided 'scientific' teaching that there was such nonsense as an ice age on earth, even where the sun was not created yet. We would wonder why the earth was not iced without the sun. Jesus knows. We read that the Spirit of God the Father and of Messiah Jehovah Yehoshua was moving over the waters. That can explain why waters kept flowing in the absence of the sun because we cannot grasp the full power of the Spirit of God.

Even with the sun, parts of the earth take turn to freeze or get very cold and to burn or get hotter. Where it freezes or gets colder, waters still flow.

With the passing of time, men will adjust their vocabulary when they realize that certain false teachings can no longer hold. The picture that comes to mind with the phrase 'ice age' invokes the idea that the earth knew a period of frozenness but we will be told that the phrase 'ice age' does not mean 'frozen age' but 'cold age' as if words other than 'ice' did not exist when the explanation 'ice age' was put forward.

The article 'Ice age' in Wikipedia states that 'An ice age is a long period of reduction in the temperature of Earth's surface and atmosphere...' 'Ice age' does not bring to mind the idea of 'a long period of reduction in the temperature of Earth's surface and atmosphere'. 'Ice age' means that the surface of the earth was frozen witch ice at a certain period in time. Except that in an exam, we must choose the current spin on the word 'ice' to be 'reduction in temperature' and not the actual depiction of the word 'ice', for us to get the answer 'right' to not fail the exam.

Hence, the teaching of the Bible that waters were flowing remain more credible to some minds, as the definition of 'ice age' is walking towards 'flowing waters age' teaching of the Bible.

Genesis 1:2 does not say that 'the Spirit of God moved upon the face the ice(s)'.
